Why Organizing and Feng Shui go hand-in-hand

As a professional organizer and Feng Shui consultant working with clients in the East Bay and Marin, I am often asked why I do both, or which I like to do better. Well, for me there is no one or another. Clearing the space and having your belongings organized is fundamental to the practice of Feng Shui.

The outer world is a mirror of your inner world

Clutter is stagnant energy. You don’t have to be an expert to feel that. Imagine yourself entering a dark, dusty attic full of old books, toys, clothes, and boxes you haven’t opened in years. Now picture yourself entering a clean, colorful living room, nicely decorated with fresh flowers, tasteful art on the walls, well organized book shelves and cabinets. See? You don’t need to be an expert to feel the difference!

Our surroundings have a big impact on our behavior and well-being. Living in a cluttered, unorganized space creates “stuckness” and confusion in your life.

Feng Shui – the art of activating and harmonizing the energy flow

Clearing the space is a necessary first step before implementing the principles of Feng Shui. Having your space de-cluttered, the cabinets and closets well-organized, can completely transform your life, creating room for new opportunities to come your way.

Then Feng Shui will be beneficial to all aspects of your life. It can speed up the process of achieving your goals and help improve your relationships, resulting in a healthier, happier you.

So next time you feel stuck or confused, look around and see if it might have something to do with the clutter in your life. And here’s a little extra tip: A closed closet door or drawer is not protecting you from the chaos behind it.
